Here are some links to pictures of my homebrew tuner using used components from various sources, with the exception of the gold plated roller inductor which was specially ordered from Rockwell in the USA.  The tuner was built from scratch in its basic form by Dave GW0DXO using a case and chassis from a RS electronics high voltage test unit purchased on ebay. I then modified it to its current spec to better suit my requirements. The tuner now has bypass / tuned option selectable from an illuminated push switch on the front panel.  The switch connects to two pairs of Kilovac vacum relays via a 3 pole double throw relay to enable full isolation of the tuned circuit in bypass mode, the spare pole on the relay is used for switching the illumination on and off  to give a quick glance indication of whether the tuner is in bypass or tuned mode. As you can see from the pictures below, the tuner is built like a tank and is made to handle the power of the amplifier that is featured elsewhere on this site.  I have tested the tuner up to 4KW pep with no arcs or flashovers provided that care is taken to ensure there is enough capacitance on the output capacitor to keep the voltage across the plates within limits. There is also a homebrew 4:1 balun in the tuner to allow the use of open wire feed of aerials if desired, with a jumper to manually change between coax output and balun output on the rear panel to provide the most versatility in the shack.

The pictures are in Hi-Res and take a long time to load, so click the links below to load the individual pictures.
